Kwaïdan, Ma Rue prend l’Aire
In Pierrefitte-sur-Aire, Meuse, on 27th May 2018

The duo Move Art Two, formed by Sayoko Onishi (butoh dance) and Robert Toussaint (double bass), will present Kwaïdan, as part of the festival Ma Rue prend l’Aire, in Pierrefitte-sur-Aire [Meuse], on Sunday 27th May 2018, at 1:00 pm and 5:15 pm, on the spot No. 15.

Kwaïdan weaves encounters between the real and the unreal, between the butoh dance and the ghost music. Here, love becomes the door separating these two worlds, playing fusion and confusion.

A creation inspired by Kwaïdan, a novel by Patrick Lafcadio Hearn. An Irish journalist, he chose to live in Japan at the beginning of the twentieth century; He traveled the country to the most remote places; He collects twenty stories of phantoms, in which women attach themselves to their past life and their love, weave invisible bonds between the world of dreams, that after death and real life. These women let us float between the two universes.

The ghost opens the frontiers of the gaze to strange worlds.

Kwaïdan extends a performance of butoh dance and double bass initially prepared to be ephemeral. From the creative intensity of the two artists, from the warm reception of the public, there was born the desire to perpetuate this encounter between the worlds - real ~ unreal, cultures - Orient ~ Occident, languages - buto dance ~ prepared bass, - woman ~ man, from individuals - Sayoko Onishi ~ Robert Toussaint

La Primavera Siciliana & Workshop, REJA – The Cloud Festival
In Tirana, Albania, on 20th & 24th May 2018

On 20th, 11:00-13:00: Butoh Workshop

Sayoko Onishi will hold a workshop of Butoh dance for professional dancers and actors at the Cloud. Please contact reja@reja.al to reserve your place.

Butoh dancing is an art form that includes performance and movement and originates in Japan. Generally, artists are painted in white and execute extremely slow and controlled movements. Sayoko Onishi is a master of Butoh dance. She was born in Hokkaido, Japan and has studied at the University of China. Sayoko Onishi often bases her performances in Butoh practise, but always tries to incorporate elements of East intertwined with West.

On 24th, 20:00-20:30: La Primavera Siciliana

The piece “La Primavera Siciliana” won the First Prize for choreography in Die Platze contemporary Dance Festival in Tokyo in 2006. This dance is characterized by the wearing of a two-faced mask that symbolizes various personalities.

During spring time imagines of the past come to my mind. I start thinking on how the present is dominated by its past and subsequently alters my thoughts. Given this inner power the old personalities in me start to relive while dancing. But then all these personalities scatter while dancing, not knowing anymore who of them leads the dance.

Butoh Dance Performance: Sayoko Onishi; Masks and costumes: Mity Manzella; Music: Antonio Leto, Supervisor: Hironobu Oikawa.

“La Primavera Siciliana” is kindly supported by the Embassy of Japan in Tirana.

MA2 Experience, Nuit de la Culture
In Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, on 5th May 2018

The duo Move Art Two, formed by Sayoko Onishi and Emmanuel Fleitz, will present a series of performances by MA2 Experience, on the theme of the night and dreams, on Saturday, 5th May 2018, at the Museum of Resistance, Esch-sur-Alzette [Luxembourg], as part of the Nuit de la Culture.

Sayoko Onishi is a choreographer and a overwhelming dancer who is part of the history of butoh. She trained with the masters - Yoshito Ohno, Yamada Ipei, Hironobu Oikawa... Soloist, she has danced in leading European companies and received several prestigious awards in Japan, Germany, etc.

Composer and contrabassist, Emmanuel Fleitz has developed a singular language throughout his career, at the crossroads of experimentation and prepared music with instrument. This framework paradoxically gives more freedom to the musician and allows him to develop new paths.

In addition, Man’ok & Cie will present the installation Reactive Scriptures in the Museum of Resistance. This specific installation on literature is made in order to propose all public in the space something outside from the ordinary book form. The installation is a large book with transparent pages. Reading this installation asks movements to the public. It can suggest literature which stimulates the mind. The public plays with his memory, what it already read and what it is reading on these transparent pages.

► The show is accessible to all.
► Free entry.

Blackout, Tour
Blackout, in Luxembourg, from 20th February 2018

The new year starts with the creation Blackout, a bizarre, gloomy, pre-apocalyptic phantasmagoria that combines elements of horror movies. I am working as a choreographer and as a dancer. Ready to Horror Excitement!

A meteorologist discovers small, seasonal irregularities in the climate in his weather analyzes. He suspects evil, but the outside world gives him little faith. Meanwhile, his environment changes almost inconspicuously. Enigmatic figures appear. The nature and the unpredictable force of the weather slowly sneak into the clear reality of the scientist and expose irrational and destructive traits. Blackout - ILL’s latest collective theatrical work - takes the viewer into a bizarre, gloomy, pre-apocalyptic phantasmagoria that combines elements of horror movies with the profound branches of a psychological thriller. The piece is a declaration of love to the horror genre and plays consciously with its rules and motives.
